You need to declare a char field.

    transliterate = fields.Char(string="Transliterate")

In the view declaration,
    ...
    <field name="arch" type="xml">
        <form string="View name">
            ...
            <field name="transliterate" widget="transliterate"/>
            ...
        </form>
    </field>
    ...
